When Sadness Overcomes

When sadness overcomes
it courts eternity
greeting with a faint smile
the calling stillness
in its moment's grace
all the while longing yet
to see its hiding face
life's promise not
in time and space.

Who should I tell

Who should I tell
but you,
no mother
father
priest
or friend,
no tree
or bird
or pet
or end,
no wall
or God
in view.

Looking Back

Looking back on the day's
trials and tribulations
the run-arounds, stepping-ups,
jumping overs, moving sideways
but mostly the sittings and
standings
while taking into
consideration
the moments, the hours,
the
mornings
noons and evenings' landings
pondering especially
the out of breaths,
smiles and kisses
frowns and frets,
the let downs, small victories
and near misses,
judgment, with a slight turn
of head
kindly nods, then dismisses.
